Poker is a game of chance and skill in which players try to make the best hand possible using the cards they are dealt. Poker can be played with any number of players. The ideal number is six to eight.<\/p>\n
A player begins with two cards. Each player may use one or two cards from his or her hand to make a wager. If a player makes a wager, the others must match it. Using the proper strategy, the player can win the pot.<\/p>\n
During the deal, a dealer cuts and shuffles the cards. He or she then deals one card to each player, one at a time. Players can choose to bet, raise, check, or fold. Depending on the version of poker played, a player may be able to draw a new card from the top of the deck.<\/p>\n
Poker is known for its bluffing abilities. When a player has the highest card, he or she can “bluff” the other players into betting on their hand.<\/p>\n
Some games of poker also allow a player to make a hand with one of the five cards in his or her hand. For instance, a five of a kind can be made with all four Aces. Another example is a straight flush.<\/p>\n
