Poker is a popular card game played with chips. The dealer assigns values to the chips prior to play and the players exchange cash for the appropriately valued chips.<\/p>\n

The object of the game is to win the pot by having the best hand, or by making a bet that no other player calls. The best hand is a straight, which consists of 5 consecutive cards from the same suit.<\/p>\n

Royal flush: This is the highest possible hand in poker, and it combines a 10, Jack, Queen, King and Ace of one suit, all of which have equal odds (probability). It can only be broken by another straight of a different suit.<\/p>\n

Four of a kind: This is the second highest possible hand in poker, and it consists of 4 cards of the same rank and a fifth card of any rank. It can only be broken by a straight of a different suit, but not by any other four-card hand.<\/p>\n

Five-card draw: The first round of betting takes place, and each player is dealt a hand face-down. Each player can then bet or fold, as they choose.<\/p>\n

Check: In some games, a player can “check” the pot at any time during a betting round. This is used to force weaker hands out of the pot, thereby raising the value of the pot.<\/p>\n

Call: When it is your turn to bet, you say “call” if you want to match the last person’s bet or raise. You can also say “I call” if you wish to bet the same amount as the person to your left or right.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
