Poker is a card game in which players place bets on the strength of their hands. The object of the game is to win the “pot,” or the sum total of all bets placed by all players in one deal. The best way to win the pot is with a strong hand or by bluffing.<\/p>\n
The game is played by two or more players and uses seven cards \u2013 the cards you hold in your hand plus the five community cards on the table. Each player makes a bet in turn, as designated by the rules of the particular poker variant being played.<\/p>\n
After the betting round is over, a “flop” of three cards is revealed and the remaining players can choose to discard and draw replacements or “hold pat” on their existing cards. The dealer will then shuffle the discarded cards into the bottom of the draw stack, adding them to the deck as needed.<\/p>\n
When deciding whether to hold a strong hand or call weaker bets, remember that the more information you have about your opponent’s holding, the better your decision-making will be.
